August 19, 2010
Dear Parents and Students:
I hope you have enjoyed your summer and are looking forward to the 2010-2011 school year. We have been hard at work getting ready for the new school year here at the Middle School. Please read this letter closely and write down August 30, 2010 from 5:30-7:00pm as Back to school night. Be sure to look at your school calendar and our website (www.homeoftheshamrocks.org) often for announcements, event times and other forms of information. The office is open daily from 7:15a.m. until 3:30p.m. if you need help or have questions.
It is very important that you attend back to school night this year. We are running the evening as a back to school registration and information evening. Back to school night will take place on August 30th, from 5:30p.m. until 7p.m. Parents will have the opportunity to receive information about what will be taught, classroom expectations, how to communicate with school, homework/grading policies and other valuable information for you as parents. We will be using a different format this year and all schedules/locker combinations, parent login information will all be handed out at back to school night. There will be no scheduled time in classes but rather information will be available at stations for you to pick up. At the conclusion of back to school night once you have had the opportunity to visit the different areas of the building we will have popcorn and ice cream available in the cafeteria. Please plan on attending this excellent opportunity to discover what to expect from the year to come. The school office will be closed September 2,3 and 6.
There will be a parent/student orientation for all families in grades six, seven, and eight who are new to the Berrien Springs School System. It is very important for new families to attend this meeting in order to gain valuable information about the expectations of the school and how to make a successful transition into our Shamrock family. The meeting will take place on August 30th, from 6:30p.m. until 7:00pm in the Library.
I am looking forward to a great school year. We have made great strides as a Middle School and are excited about the continued improvement we expect to see. Berrien Springs Middle School is a very special place for students to learn because of the great staff, hard-working students and involved parents. Through our continued team effort our children will grow into happy, caring and knowledgeable members of the community.
